Lodi Cycle Fest 2012 {Sports}

While working on the California State University, Sacramento student newspaper (The State Hornet) I was the Sports Editor, along with covering and shooting photographs for gymnastics, softball and volleyball.

I love sports and I went out the the 2011 Lodi Cyclefest last season and posted a little blog about it last July so I figured why not head out there again this year. The only difference was I didn't walk down to downtown Lodi with my deer chihuahua Meeko. I took photographs near the corner turns and it terrified Meeko, therefore I left him at home this time.

I got to the event at the end of the Men Cat 35+ 4/5 -- Just in time to see another crash (as I saw last year) during the second to final turn on the final lap. The leader went down alone and about four more a few bikes down, which I caught and shown in the final photo on the blog.

The first three shots in the blog are of the Handcycle Race, which had a duration of 20 minuets. These cyclist petal and steer with only there hands & arms.

Above: This was the winner of the race, who won a cash prize of  $1,222 and a bottle of wine donated by sponsor Micheal David Winery.

Below: Were two of the three women in the race who stayed within the head of the pack and raced past a few men in the final laps.

Here is one of the "crash" photos I was referring to at the beginning of the blog. You can see the leader who went down near the tree on the far right in green.

Introducing Michelle {High school}

I had the pleasure to shoot this girls first event model shoot. Michelle has been told many times by her friends and family she should try modeling.

We met at the Japanese garden, which I hadn't shot in since Cristal and Micheal's wedding and I haven't seen so many people inside the garden that ever before.

After the session I met my bother, mom and niece (Jewels) to see the animals at the zoo.

Successful Thinkers -- July 11 {Meetings}

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Malia Cash-Taylor welcomes the group to a bit of a different setting since the Waterfront hotel also had another event, which took up most of the rooms and the lobby.

Malia is the co-lead ambassador with Annie Lee (not pictured).

Here are some of the Stockton ambassadors:

Jerame

Ella

Daloris

Ariel

And now for our speaker of the day: Mario Vazquez.

Here are the notes from fellow Successful Thinker member Sandie Gilbert, who is an independent consultant with Mary Kay and co-owner of G & G Blooms.

Attitude

Attitude is contagious. We need to exude positive attitude. You need to convince yourself that your product is the best!

Nothing we do is really new. There are others who want to do what we want so we need to do the extra mile that will move traffic toward you. Never give up, think outside the box, study people, work hard.

If you're lost you have to know where you are - know your landscape, get to the high ground.

Have the confidence to know when something is not a best fit and feel comfortable to refer a client to another successful thinker who can serve them better. If I help somebody else it's going to come back to us tenfold.

There is no I in team so expand your network to get others' thoughts and input to help your attitude and grow your business. Develop a vision and a mission with your network.

Entrepreneurs need to work hard then reward yourself so you don't burn out and fizzle.
Don't waste time on negativity such as the news, negative music, etc.

Take calculated risks to move your business forward.  Gather all the tools you can use to advance in your life. You can't just sit back and hide. Business will not get ahead if you don't take an educated chance and develop a plan.

As always towards the end of the meeting members of the group discuss the the nine steps to being successful and how to preform the one-on-ones.

Grace also spoke about another book by T Harv Eker.

Woodward Family {Portraits}

Had a super fun time with the Wooodwards at the lake. I've known Nichole (the daughter) from about the age of 11 or 12. We played softball together, went to concerts together, did sleepovers. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding last year and now I get to return the favor as a bridesmaid in her wedding, which is set for next year.

Nichole along with her brother Seth wanted to do some special for their mom for Mother's Day. She called me up, we set a date for lunch and talked out the details. Due to differences in every one's work schedules we had the shoot in late June.

We had some laughs, some slips and new spots during the shoot, which made it one to remember.

Below: This had got to be one of my personal faves from the day

Below: This was one of my newbie locations at the lake. This knot in the tree made for a few unique shots.

And then we had a little fun at the end of the shoot.

Sneak Peek {High school}

Did a shoot the other day at Micke Grove in the Japanese Garden with a young girl who is hoping to break into the modeling market.

After talking to her during the shoot I found out this is her first shoot to date and we have some fun with the pond rocks, the sun and using a reflector to get some cool light.

Here is just a little tease from the shoot. More to come later.

Louise Umeki, Vice President of Successful Thinkers was the speaker for the week. Notes, as always, taken by Sandie Gilbert independent consultant for Mary Kay and co-owner of G & G Blooms.

A picture says a 1000 words.

What does your picture say about you?

If you don't design your picture frame for your life, somebody else will.

There's pictures of family, trinkets, or meaningful things in your life.

Turtles represent persistence. Faith in success will pay off. It takes time to find the right people, situation, location, etc.
Design your life for the way you want it. If you let others; the state, spouses, friends,or family, bosses you give up your choices.

Choose Successful Thinkers to be surrounded by positive thinkers.

So design your life before somoene else does.

Fill the picture frames of your life. Make the choices for your life and frame theme.

You might be wondering why my logo isn't on the photographs on list post. Since Successful Thinkers/Mastery for Women isn't about promoting your own business, but in helping build others.

As any other photographer would I still placed a watermark so the photos can't be reproduced without consent from the artist.
Therefore in the future all other Successful Thinkers or Mastery for Women meeting with only have the watermark so it isn't insinuated that I am posting these blogs to only promote myself, but the people who attend the meetings.
