Sacramento State Gymnastics

So I got to cover the Western Athletic Conference Championships for gymnastics last week. This is the conference Sacramento State is in. When I noticed Sacramento was going to host the championships I jumped right on broad to photograph the event.

I covered the gymnastics beat when I was on the Sac State paper and I used to compete in gymnastics when I was little so gymnastics has always been close to my heart. I love to watch it and photograph the sport.

Here are some of my best photos or just ones I liked from the night.

Here are the two-time WAC Champions Boise State.

Just one of the gymnasts from Boise State.

Another Boise gal on the floor. These are some of the most fun to watch b/c the girls know how to have fun.

I also love how all the teams wear these fake tattoos on their faces for the meets.

I just loved the determination in her eyes. This was on the beam (as was the girl in the blue above).

Here are the Sac State photos. These are the girls cheering on Alycia Chan on floor.

This is Lissa Z. She's a junior on the team. I just wanted to show how flexible one must be in this sport.

I love Eryn. She is so smiley, and nice. She is a ton of fun to watch. And when her team is cheering her on she really gets into the dancing on the floor.

Again Eryn. After she competed on the beam. She was placed on the Second-Team All-Conference for this event. And she was so happy when she was heading back to her team. I just thought this was the cutest photo.

Eryn: When she was looking to her team after winning the award for second place in the all-around (meaning she competed in all four events and scored the second highest score).

Sports have always been one of the things I feel I can photograph the best. Let me know what y'all think.

Autumn fun

I just learned how to post the pictures so I don't have to post the little clickable links

So I went back through my fall photo from a day at Sac State and found a couple I liked to test this out.

Photo contest

"The Department of Design is pleased to announce an opportunity for two graduating seniors to have a joint exhibit in the Design Gallery. The members of L.E.N.S, Sac State’s photography club, will select the students whose work will be displayed."

One of my friends from Sac told me about this contest and since it's good for anyone who graduated in Dec. '08 or will be in May '09. And since I have 11 shots from my senior port class I figured I could shoot at least one more and have 12.

I went out today I shot pictures of my brother (who is always my model when I need one) and did a track photo shoot. I have three different outcomes.

Let me know which one is the best.

Oh and here is a shot of part of the process

Also during the day I got some cute shots of my niece.

Midnight bowling

So Saturday night James and I (with some friends) went bowling in Manteca (which James calls it the city of lard -- b/c Manteca is the Spanish word for lard) for the midnight bowling. I took along my little point-and-shoot camera and I took the flash off and came out with some nice shots so figured I'd shear them on here.

Cute little niece

So I went out yesterday with my brother his girlfriend and their kid Jewels. I've always wanted to photograph someone in the yellow flowered fields within my town and this year I thought of my cute two-year-old niece. Her mommy thought of this purple/green dress because I wanted her in something that was green of offset the yellow flowers.

Well Jewels was a bit nervous since the grass was high and it tickled her legs.....I didn't get exactly what I wanted in the first place, but I got some pretty cute shots and I wanted to shear.

As we were walking back from the field I got this shot of Jonathan (my brother) and Page.
